BARRETSTOWN - Business All-Star Accreditation
Barretstown have successfully navigated 3 rounds of auditing which proved their performance, trust and customer-centricity.
The auditing process has left us in no doubt as to BARRETSTOWN’s suitability for Business All-Star accreditation and their inclusion in The Register of Irish Business Excellence (TRIBE).
– Kieran Ring, Deputy Chair, Adjudication Board
Barretstown is a children’s charity, based in County Kildare which was founded in 1994 by the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman. Barretstown provides life-changing therapeutic programmes for children affected by serious illness and their families, supported behind the scenes by 24-hour on-site medical and nursing care. This is a special year for Barretstown as we celebrate our 25th anniversary and the milestone of serving our 50,000th camper.
The services provided to all of the children and families who come to Barretstown are entirely free of charge. Each year, Barretstown must raise €6 million to deliver its programmes. With the funds we currently have, we are reaching as many children as we can. However, there are thousands of seriously ill children that we cannot yet reach. Earlier this year, we launched our Press Play campaign, a five year campaign aiming to raise an additional €5 million so that by 2024, every child with a serious illness living in Ireland who could benefit from one of our programmes, will have the opportunity to do so. Childhood stops for seriously ill children. At Barretstown we Press Play on childhood.
Message from Dee Ahearn - Chief Executive Officer at Barretstown
We at Barretstown are honoured to receive accreditation for Business Excellence from the Business All-Stars. This is a wonderful endorsement of our work and a platform for us to raise awareness of our life changing therapeutic programmes. In addition, we have received accreditation for “Thought Leader in Charity Governance” in 2018/2019, acknowledging the importance we place on governance and transparency.
I would like to thank the Foundation, our Board, Senior Leadership Team and all of my colleagues in Barretstown for their commitment and dedication to ensuring that we operate to the highest possible standards, which has led to this achievement. I would also like to thank our donors, supporters and volunteers whose support is so vital in delivering our programmes to children affected by serious illness and their families.
We look forward to continuing to meet and indeed exceed the standards set by the All-Ireland Business Foundation and collaborating with the TRIBE members.
